Why it matters: The article shared by Musk talked about the rise of mammals after dinosaurs were decimated by a 6-mile-wide asteroid that hit present-day Mexico with the power of more than a billion atomic bombs.
Musk is a proponent of settlement on Mars to extend the “probable lifespan” of humanity.
He said in April, “I think we really just have this little candle of consciousness as a little light in the void and we don’t want that little candle to be extinguished in a massive darkness.”
More recently, he said, “Mars may be a… fixer-upper of a planetbut it has great potential.”
Price promotion: On Monday, Tesla shares closed 1.1% lower at $284.82 in the regular session and gained 0.4% in extended trading, according to data from Benzinga Pro.
